Richard Coleman Dip Arch ARB/RIBA/RIAI was Deputy Secretary of the Royal Fine Art Commission (precursor of CABE) for 13 years and during that time developed highly refined skills in the fields of architecture, urban design and heritage conservation. These skills are coupled with more than 35 years experience as a chartered architect, since 1980, and more than 20 years being an independent consultant, since the consultancy was first established in 1997. Citydesigner is able to provide objective and informed judgments on urban design, view assessment and matters concerning new design in heritage contexts. This enables those engaged in redeveloping sensitive sites or making alterations to listed or other protected buildings or conservation areas, to understand fully the nuances involved, particularly the need to preserve important aspects of the character of the urban environment, while seeking to enhance it with high quality design. With experience in proposals affecting World Heritage Sites, Royal Parks, sensitive and strategic views, listed buildings and conservation areas, the consultancy has been commissioned to provide independent assessments and advice on over 250 schemes in London, Dublin and also across the United Kingdom (including Bath and Brighton), both large and small, where these issues are important. Richard is founder and former Chairman of World Architecture News and Building Environment Media, former Director of World Cities Network, a member of the British Property Federation Heritage Committee, Deputy Chairman of The Architecture Club, a Board Member of Brighton West Pier Trust and a former CABE Building Environment Expert.
