Elza holds an MA in Architecture and Urbanism with Distinction from the Manchester School of Architecture and has trained as a qualified architect in India and Qatar. Her academic works have focused on themes of critical regionalism and fair-access, self-sustaining community spaces. Having joined Citydesigner in 2022 as an assistant, and now working as a scheme consultant, her skills in heritage support, archival research and documentation analysis have developed to a high level within the consultancy. Elza works on various heritage and townscape projects based in London, Southampton and Dublin conducting research, producing supporting material through graphic design and VU. City studies; assessing the significance of heritage assets and conservation areas; producing HTVIA reports in both EIA and non-EIA formats and also providing assistance to the senior consultants on larger schemes.
Her recent projects include a residential tall building scheme in Barnet, by Studio Egret West; a commercial-use development close to the protected Custom House in Dublin, by Henry J Lyons; a heritage sensitive refurbishment in Victoria Street within the Westminster Cathedral Conservation Area, by TP Bennett; an extension to a house which is part of a Grade II listed terrace in Westminster, by Astudio architects; and PBSA developments in Southwark by ACA Studios and in Southampton by WGP Architects.
