Mariana trained as an architect in Mexico and Spain and holds an MA in Architecture and Urbanism from the Manchester School of Architecture. Previously, she had worked in participatory and urban design. Since joining Citydesigner, Mariana has worked in the preparation of EIA and non-EIA HTVIA reports; producing graphics such as maps and analytical diagrams, and VU.CITY studies. She also conducts archival and desktop historical research; assesses the significance of designated and non-designated heritage assets and visual impact of new developments within historical settings. She also assists senior consultants on larger schemes.

Her experience includes working on projects such as the extension of a Grade II listed building in Westminster, tall buildings in South London and Nottingham, and an office scheme along Dublin's riverside. Other projects where she has assisted include the conversion of a Grade II* listed building in Central London, heritage statements for modernist buildings in Dublin, the regeneration masterplan of a council estate in North London, and tall buildings in London.
